Post

So, hello

In an attempt to begin my path to enlightenment, I’ve wiped the slate clean, so to speak. I have deleted my old tumblr, which was full of naive rants and bad/mediocre memories. I’ve decided to leave my past behind, and embark on a journey I’ve only dreamt of until recently.

Throughout my years in high school and even the couple that followed, I witnessed what the power of buddhism has on people. Many don’t understand it, because they don’t bother to learn. There’s nothing wrong with that; it’s not necessarily ignorance unless they voice their assumptions I suppose. I desperately wanted to learn… I’ve never been religious in any sense of the word, so when I learned that Buddha was merely a teacher, looked up to for his morals, rather than a God to pray to, I was immediately enticed/relieved. God is as real to me as magic warlock who lives underground and flies around on a unicorn. I’ve always considered myself a realist, and I don’t believe much that I don’t see or that can’t physically be proven. But, one concept I’ve always had [faith] in, is that the more good you do, and the more kindness you show, the happier you will be.

So, first are the Four Noble Truths, which I think is the most basic as well as the most crucial part of buddhism.

In a nutshell, they are:

  1. Suffering exists
  2. Suffering is the cause of an effect
  3. Suffering can be eliminated
  4. The end of suffering can be reached by putting an end to your cravings and temptations, and following a path of wisdom, self-discipline, and meditation.

This blog is to help me keep track of my progress and remain consistent in my new way of life.

Good Luck! (to myself)
